On the afternoon of October 28, 2022, the ASEAN-China Arts Colleges Alliance Conference 2022 & the Presidents' Roundtable 2022 was officially held online. It was hosted by the ASEAN-China Centre, SEAMEO RegionalCenterfor Higher Education and Development, and Guangxi Arts University and overtaken by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore(NAFA) and Guangxi Arts University. Leaders of 13 art colleges from China and ASEAN participated in the assembly. Professor Chen Jinsong, vice president of Yunnan Arts University (YNAU), was invited to attend the roundtable meeting and delivered a speech on behalf of YNAU.
Themed "Walking the Artistic Path, Towards a Shared Future", this event consisted of four parts: the ASEAN-China Arts Colleges Alliance Conference 2022(ACACA), thePresidents’Roundtable2022, the onlineperforming arts presentations, and special lecture series. The excellent works of teachers and students from Music School, Dancing School, Fine Art School and Design School of YNAU were exhibited online on October 29.
The opening address by President Tan Wai Lan of NAFA at the opening ceremony and the three-year work report of the Secretariat of ACACA both mentioned that the bilateral and multilateral international art exchange and cooperation projects with YNAU had injected vitality into mutual friendship. Participants expressed that they would continue to work together under the ACACA framework while adhering to the Belt and Road Initiative spirit of "peaceful cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit", so as to further promote the prosperity and deep integration of cultures and art in China and ASEAN.
Vice President Chen Jinsong introduced in his speech that YNAU as an ACACA founding member has been engaged in the activities of ACACA since its inception in 2017, fully leveraged YNAU's education advantages, successfully held several art performances and academic exchange activities with international influence, and enhanced exchanges and mutual learning in culture and are for deepening cooperation, open development, and collaborative innovation.
Finally, Vice President Chen Jinsong specified that higher education institutions not only assume important functions of talent training, scientific research, social services, and cultural inheritance, but also play an essential role in cultural exchanges between China and other countries. Under the new situation of comprehensively deepening the opening up of education, YNAU will further deliver its responsibilities and missions, exercise its education characteristics and advantages, and continue to deepen cooperation with various high-level platforms such as the ACACA, thus making due contributions to promoting cultural and artistic exchanges between China and other countries and the opening up of education in Yunnan.
