The seminar of "Construction of Art Management Major from an International Perspective" held at our school

On the morning of December 27, 2020, with an aim at promoting the international construction of the art management major and raising our influence, the 2020 International Symposium on Art Management Education with the theme of "Construction of Art Management Major from an International Perspective" co-organized by the China Arts Administration Education Association (CAAEA) and Yunnan Arts University (YNAU) was kicked off in Lecture Hall of our library. This event gathered more than 50 experts and scholars from six countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, the Philippines and Thailand, as well as Hong Kong and Macao of China to discuss the connotative development of art management and internationalized schooling.

At the opening ceremony, Guo Hao, President of YNAU, on behalf of the university, expressed sincere appreciation and greetings towards these experts and scholars attending the conference. According to Mr. Guo, as YNAU attached great importance to the development of students' artistic appreciation during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, our school has performed five ten-million projects for four consecutive years, which provided sufficient guarantee for the implementation of connotative development of the university in terms of policies and funds. During this period, some achievements have been made in discipline construction and specialty construction. Mr. Guo hoped that this symposium could allow experts and scholars to discuss and exchange their ideas on the construction of art management under new age and the development modes, to offer great plans and suggestions so that we can try a new schooling mode.

Yu Ding, Chairman of CAAEA, Director of Academic Committee and Dean of the School of Art Management and Education of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) delivered a keynote speech, which discussed such three aspects as the development background and path of art management, the Art Management discipline and professional suggestions of CAFA in the new era, and the construction of Art Management discipline in Yunnan. He mentioned that the eventful year 2020 is a milestone on which Chinese art management education has entered the international stage in the new era. Meanwhile, he introduced the rich experience of running a school in CAFA, and provided constructive suggestions for the future development of the School of Arts Management of YNAU.

Later, some other experts gave online speeches, expressing their hope to meet each other soon. There were Francois Colbert, former chairman of the UNESCO Cultural Management Committee and Chairman of the Carmelle and Rémi Marcoux, HEC Montréal, Canada, William Reid, tenured professor at George Mason University, USA, Robert Carthy, Director of International Development, Northumbria University, UK, Bely Recorba Ygot, Director of the University Center for Culture and the Arts of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Dr. He Yifan (Remy Auguste Francois Jarry) from the Faculty of Communication Arts of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, Zheng Xinwen, Professor in Music Management of Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Xiao Daibai, Doctoral Supervisor of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the City University of Macau.

Mr. Yvon VELOT, General Manager of Kunming Sino Mekong Co. Ltd., delivered a speech on behalf of foreign experts, which was translated by Mr. Tao Gangqun, President of Kunming French School. He mentioned that the newly established international research center, more than a school-enterprise cooperation, was a Sino-French cooperation. The center will work to establish partnership with foreign institutions. In addition, he also hoped to make use of the intangible cultural heritage to support poverty, cultivate more artistic management personnel to contribute more to Sino-France friendship.

The opening ceremony also saw the signing and unveiling of the agreement on the Lancang-Mekong International Research Center for Culture, Art and Living Heritage. Guo Hao presented visiting professor and honorary Professor certificates to the foreign experts on site.

He and Li Congxi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of YNAU, jointly unveiled and awarded the plaque for the School of Arts Management. Guo Hao then announced the formal opening of the symposium.

This opening ceremony was presided over by Jiang Feng, Dean of the School of Arts Management, and attended by the Party and government leaders of our university. Experts and scholars in attendance were: Yu Ding, Chairman of CAAEA, Director of Academic Committee and Dean of the School of Art Management and Education of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Zhang Zhaoxia, Vice Chairman of CAAEA and Professor of the School of Humanities of Beijing Dance Academy, Shan Zeng, Director of CAAEA and Vice Dean of the School of Art Management and Education of China Academy of Art, Zhao Le, Deputy Secretary-General of CAAEA and Associate Professor of Arts Management Department of Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Wu Yangbo, Deputy Secretary-General of CAAEA and Associate Professor of the Faculty of Humanities of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Yan Cong, Managing Director of CAAEA and Associate Professor of Art Management Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Xie Renmin, (Vice) Dean of the College of Humanities, Guangxi Arts University, Chen Ying, President of China Academy of Wisdom Sciences, Xu Zhenzhi, Chairman of Nanjing Pinyin Society, Yvon VELOT, General Manager of Kunming Sino Mekong Co. Ltd. and representative of foreign experts, Chen Ling, Deputy Dean of the College of Arts Management of Shandong University of Arts, Zhang Lei, Ph.D. in Art Management at Shanghai Theater Academy, and Xue Shiyi, post-doctor at the post-doctoral mobile station for the first-level discipline of Art Theory at Shanghai Theater Academy. Moreover, leaders, teachers and students representatives from relevant functional departments and secondary schools of YNAU also participated in this activity.

At the symposium, the School of Arts Management organized the keynote speech of the conference and the exchange seminar of young scholars with the theme of "The Construction of Art Management Major from an International Perspective". It is expected that this discussion and exchange can provide a high starting point, new pattern, new vision to keep promoting the construction of art management major in comprehensive art colleges and universities, so as to enrich and develop the art management in China and promote the collaborative innovation, sharing, co-construction and win-win situation of art management education in universities and colleges at home and abroad. After the event, the School of Arts Management invited experts from home and abroad to observe the high-quality teaching performance of our School of Drama. The annual conference of China Arts Administration Education Association in 2021 will also be held in Yunnan Arts University.
