The Achievement Exhibition of the International Master Workshop for Malaysian Batik Techniques Held at YNAU

On May 30, 2025, the Achievement Exhibition of the International Master Workshop for Malaysian Batik Techniques, an event in the series of programs of celebrating 51 years of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia under the theme of "INDIGO & BATIK: A China-Malaysia Cultural Fusion," was held at Yunnan Arts University (YNAU).

Before the event, Li Jianyu, Secretary of the CPC Committee of YNAU, had a cordial conversation with Muhamad Akmal Bin Abdul Wahab, Consul General of Malaysia to Kunming. Secretary Li Jianyu briefly introduced the school-running history, disciplines and majors, and international exchange situation of YNAU, with a focus on its exchanges and cooperation with Malaysia. He expressed the hope to further consolidate the foundation for bilateral cooperation in the field of art, strengthen cooperation with the Malaysian education sector, jointly promote China-Malaysia art exchanges and cooperation, enrich the content of connectivity in the art field, promote mutual understanding and communication between the people, and build a multi-level open platform system.

Secretary Li Jianyu announced the official launch of the Achievement Exhibition of the International Master Workshop for Malaysian Batik Techniques.

Mr. Muhamad Akmal Bin Abdul Wahab delivered a speech. He pointed out that the batik works created by teachers and students from China and Malaysia, with deep indigo as ink and craftsmanship as pens, outline a new picture of the Maritime Silk Road in the new era on fabric. These works are vivid witnesses of the friendship between the two countries passed down from generation to generation. He hoped that this workshop would serve as a bridge to further promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
Jiang Feng, Member of the CPC Committee and Vice President of YNAU, delivered a speech. He pointed out that YNAU will closely follow China's Belt and Road Initiative, take the "International Master Workshop" series of programs as a link, and strive to build an international exchange platform with broad influence. It will promote in-depth multicultural exchanges, broaden the horizons of teachers and students through mutual learning, and build an intangible cultural heritage inheritance and innovation system based on local conditions and facing the world.


Secretary Li Jianyu and Mr. Muhamad Akmal Bin Abdul Wahab exchanged gifts.




During the closing ceremony, Professor Mohamed Najib spoke on behalf of the teachers, and Indonesian student Lin Yuantian and Lu Yunfei from the School of Arts Management of YNAU spoke on behalf of the trainees. There was a batik works display area, a batik making skills experience area, and a batik fashion show on site.

The event was participated in by teachers of the master class, including Professor Mohamed Najib, Roseliza Muhamad, and Nawwal binti Abdul Kadir; Li Yuliang, Head of the Kunming Branch of the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China; and all the students of the master class. Attendees also included Jue Qiangfang, Member of the CPC Committee, Director of the Office (Party Committee Inspection Office) of YNAU and Head of the Organization Department, Hou Yunfeng, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, members of the Party and Administrative Leadership of the School of Arts Management, and representatives of teachers and students of YNAU.
