Teachers and Students from YNAU Participate in the 2025 "Chinese National Costume Week· Cloud Clothes" Activities

Apr 4, 2025

From March 28 to April 1, the Central Committee of the Communist Young League of China hosted the 2025 "Chinese National Costume Week· Cloud Clothes" activities in Kunming, Yunnan. The activities featured the captivating charm of traditional Chinese costumes, Chinese costume tours, intangible cultural heritage workshops, special lectures, and international student experience activities, attracting young people to immerse themselves in the harmonious blend of fine Chinese traditional culture with modern scientific and technological innovation. These activities aim to inspire the younger generation to carry forward China's cultural legacy, strengthen cultural confidence, and deepen their patriotism, ultimately contributing to the development of a socialist cultural powerhouse. The faculty and student teams from YNAU's Design School, Drama School, and Music School participated in the performance showcasing the captivating charm of traditional Chinese costumes on April 1.

Under the guidance of instructor Yang Lixia, the Youth Choir of the Music School wore traditional and elegant Naxi costumes and performed Naxi Ancient melody—Search in an a cappella chorus, vividly depicting the life of the Naxi people. The singing is like the white snow of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the gurgling water of Lijiang Ancient City. Each note beautifully conveys a deep reverence for nature, a profound love for life, and an unwavering pride in national culture.

The Drama School and the Design School collaborated to present Colorful Clothes, a national costume catwalk, to the audience. The clothing design team of Fan Jia, a teacher at the Design School, drew inspiration from Yunnan's rich ethnic culture and natural scenery. By incorporating elements such as Yi fire patterns, Hani terraced fields, and Dai peacocks into their creations, they meticulously designed 22 sets of exquisite ethnic costumes. Under the guidance of teachers Cao Jiarui and Zhang Li, the students in the modeling class of the Drama School showcased the full charm of clothing through their exceptional professionalism and remarkable expressions, breathing new life into traditional costumes.

Moving forward, YNAU's Communist Young League will thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, along with the guiding principles of President Xi Jinping's important speech during his inspection of Yunnan.  The League will leverage YNAU's professional strengths to adopt the work approach of "Party Building + Ideological and Political Education + Art", actively organizing and encouraging teachers and students to create and perform more ideologically rich and artistically impactful works and performances. These efforts aim to inspire and guide young people in a subtle, vivid, and effective way while enhancing students' aesthetic appreciation, humanistic qualities, and cultural confidence, ultimately enriching their spiritual world.
