The Second Seminar on First-Class Audio-Visual Language Courses Held at YNAU

On April 22 and 23, 2023, the second seminar on first-class audio-visual language courses was held at YNAU's Chenggong campus, organized by the university and hosted by the Songjie Film Studio.


The series of activities during this seminar aimed to focus on audio-visual language education and promote the exchange of teaching methods and practical experiences among various universities, with the goal of jointly promoting the improvement and development of audio-visual language education. In particular, it emphasized the need for collaboration among various forces to strengthen teaching and research and curriculum development. The event included a themed forum on the Audio-Visual Language course in the era of visual media, a forum on the construction of virtual teaching and research rooms, a high-level forum on audio-visual language education as citizenship education, and a documentary exhibition of works.

On April 22, the opening ceremony of the seminar was held in the conference room of the Yunnan Arts University Library. Experts and scholars from over ten universities and industry organizations, including Jiangsu Normal University, Xinjiang Arts University, the Arts and Communication University of Shanxi, Communication University of Zhejiang, Hebei Institute of Communications, Shandong University of Arts, Yunnan University, Yunnan Minzu University, Xuchang University, Southwest Forestry University, Wenhua School of YNAU, Kunming City College, and Beijing Pannaweiran Company, gathered at YNAU.


Li Congxi, the Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of YNAU, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. In his speech, Li Congxi reviewed the history of how the renowned Chinese film education expert, Mr. Zhou Chuanji, helped establish the film and television discipline at YNAU, and how he planted the seed of "film ontology" in Yunnan. Li Congxi expressed his hope that through this seminar, experts and scholars could explore the potential and academic contributions of audio-visual language in promoting the inheritance and development of ethnic culture, as well as highlighting its connotations. He further hoped that they could provide valuable advice and suggestions for the curriculum development of YNAU.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Wang Kemin, the Secretary of the Party General Branch of the School of Film and Television at YNAU.

Song Jie, the Dean of the School of Film and Television at YNAU, delivered a speech. In his speech, Song Jie expressed his hope that this seminar could focus on the establishment of an "Audio-Visual Language" course alliance and a community of scientific research and teaching, based on the exploration of audio-visual language course development.

At the opening ceremony, Song Jie signed an agreement on the joint construction of a virtual teaching and research room for the Audio-Visual Language course with representatives from various universities.

From April 22 to May 12, the exhibition of outstanding documentary films produced by graduate students was held.

The School of Film and Television will take this seminar as an opportunity to advance the development of high-quality audio-visual language education and contribute to the establishment of a leading art college.
