Our school to Funing County to carry out aesthetic education infiltration action elegant art into the campus activities
In accordance with the 2024 aesthetic education program, our school’s Youth League Committee, Academic Affairs Office, and Drama School organized a performance team to visit Funing County, Wenshan Prefecture, from May 30 to 31, 2024, to conduct two sessions of the “Elegant Art into Campus” initiative. The first performance was attended by Lang Qixun, Vice President and Party Committee Member of Yunnan Arts University (YNAU), and Li Wenxiong, Deputy County Mayor of the People's Government of Funing County. Over 800 teachers and students from 7 primary and secondary schools in Funing County watched the performances live, while more than 2000 people viewed them online.
This “Elegant Art into Campus” event, a key part of the aesthetic education program, was highly valued by the University. Leveraging its academic and professional strengths, the University organized a performance of the original musical Journey to the North of the Elephants, funded by China National Arts Fund and produced by the Drama School, tailored to the characteristics of primary and secondary school students in Funing County. The musical, inspired by the globally significant 2021 news event of the long-distance migration of wild Asian elephants in Yunnan, skillfully combines hot events with artistic imagination. Presented in the form of a musical, it vividly conveys the idea of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, integrating aesthetic education into ideological and political education, and telling the stories of China and Yunnan. The musical was created by Professor Liu Qiong of the Drama School and performed by undergraduate and graduate students from the School.
During the performances, teachers and students from YNAU overcame challenges related to climate, venues, and stage design, demonstrating full commitment and exceptional professionalism, and earning unanimous praise from the audience.
