On December 9, the 4th Kunming Forum on Education Cooperation in South & Southeast Asia, hosted by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, opened as scheduled. Mr. Xu Bin, vice chairman of Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Mr. Tao Hongjian, first-class inspector of the International Department of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Wang Yongli, vice president of China Education Association for International Exchange, Mr. Faizal, consul general of Malaysia in Kunming, Ms. Lin Shui Ling, consul general of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kunming and Mr. Joselito Sia, acting consul general of Canadian Consulate General in Chongqing delivered speeches. Vice President Ouyang Junhu of Yunnan Arts University was invited to attend the forum and he signed the memorandum of cooperation between Yunnan Arts University and the University of Kelantan, Malaysia, witnessed by officials from embassies and consulates of South and Southeast Asian countries, representatives of educational institutions in 36 online branch venues and leaders from the Ministry of Education, the People's Government of Yunnan Province, and the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, both online and offline. Hou Yunfeng and Chen Wenting of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Yunnan Arts University accompanied him at the meeting.

The 2021 "Enduring Flames, Intimate Friends" Invitational Exhibition of China and South & Southeast Asia Metal Handicraft hosted by Yunnan Arts University also appeared at the opening ceremony and the main forum. The Metal Handicraft Exhibition is an important initiative to integrate and serve the "Belt and Road" initiative and the positioning of the "Driving Power for the Development of South and Southeast Asia". It takes metal handicrafts as the entry point for exchange and mutual appreciation and uses visual art language to bring the people of China and South and Southeast Asian countries closer to each other, solidifying the humanistic foundation of China-South and Southeast Asia interaction and building a community of shared future for mankind.

Universities not only assume the important functions of talent training, scientific research, social services and cultural inheritance but also play a unique and important role in humanistic exchanges between China and foreign countries.
