Nov 26, 2021

At 14:00 on November 26, 2021, the 2021 German Film Salon, a film and cultural exchange event jointly organized by the Yunnan Arts University (YNAU) and Goethe-Institut (China), German Cultural Center, Beijing, was officially opened at Yunnan Arts University. The opening ceremony was attended by the university's Vice President Ouyang Junhu, heads of relevant functional departments, representatives of teachers and students, and many famous directors, producers, and curators in the sector. The ceremony was presided over by Yang Zhuo, vice president of the School of Arts Management, YNAU.

The event aimed to build a platform for learning and exchanging excellent film works, helping Yunnan become an important window for communicating with worldwide films and enter the global film market. Over a five-day period, scholars carried out academic discussions in combination with five excellent German films. Meanwhile, five Chinese directors also shared their works for exchanges. Besides, a group of domestic and foreign front-line film workers, researchers, and students and teachers of related disciplines from universities discussed the current situation and future of films in the post-pandemic era.

Vice President Ouyang Junhu delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He hoped that film practitioners in and outside the university would make full use of the event of 2021 German Film Salon to further communication and cooperation, so as to achieve a deeper dialogue among Yunnan films, Chinese films and world films. He also hoped that students and teachers of Yunnan Arts University could achieve better results in academics and creations through the event.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Clemens Treter, president of the Goethe-Institut (China), sent a special video to express his gratitude to the curator and the host. He hoped that there would be more opportunities to hold diverse and interesting cultural exchange activities, and wished the salon a great success.

Professor Shen Xiaoping, the curator of the event, expected that the event could enable interactions among domestic and foreign film workers, professional students from relevant majors and visitors, allowing them to gain inspiration from Chinese and German films and their current situation. In the end, Song Jie, president of the Film and Television School of Yunnan Arts University, delivered a speech and announced the start of the 2021 German Film Salon and a series of academic activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Film and Television School of Yunnan Arts University.
