
On March 19, the "No. 9 Mayuan —Art Exhibition" opened at the library of the Yunnan Arts University (YNAU). Ouyang Junhu, President of YNAU, and Lang Qixun, Member of the CPC Committee and Vice President, attended the ceremony.


Ouyang Junhu announced the opening of the exhibition. He described the exhibition as a reflection of the collective dreams of everyone at YNAU. From undertaking challenging endeavors to becoming a cornerstone of art education in Southwest China, YNAU has evolved through the dedication and hard work of multiple generations. Through the efforts of generations of YNAU individuals, its development is progressing to a higher level. On behalf of the administration, he expressed sincere gratitude to the predecessors and teachers who have made significant contributions to the construction and development of YNAU. He also extended sincere appreciation to sister institutions and experts from all walks of life who have long cared about, supported, and contributed to the development and progress of YNAU.

Lang Qixun emphasized that by hosting the exhibition from "Mayuan" to "Yuhua", YNAU would remain committed to its original intention of art education. It will uphold fine traditions, deepen teaching reform, strengthen faculty development, integrate science and technology into the arts, enhance the quality of talent cultivation, expand international collaborations, and foster the fusion of artistic innovation and cultural heritage. With unwavering dedication, YNAU aims to achieve its goal of becoming a world-class art university.




Subsequently, retired professor Wu Jun, Liu Xiao, a descendant of Liu Fuhui, Yang Long, a representative of the first cohort of undergraduate oil painting graduates admitted to YNAU in 1959, and Yin Yanhua, director of the Fine Arts Department and project leader of the School of Higher Vocational Education, delivered speeches. They all said that the "Mayuan No. 9" exhibition aims to summarize the art creation of YNAU since its establishment and highlight its faculty and teaching achievements. Looking back on its history in education, YNAU has embraced the significant responsibility of leading and advancing the development of fine arts in Yunnan. It has attracted numerous renowned artists, nurtured a wealth of artistic talent for society, and made invaluable contributions to the prosperity and development of Yunnan's cultural and artistic undertakings. Moreover, YNAU has also played a key role in establishing Yunnan as a strong province for ethnic cultural heritage. Moving forward, YNAU will remain committed to its original mission, uphold its founding spirit, and strive to create more masterpieces that reflect the essence of the times and the people. The art exhibition featured the works of over 190 artists, spanning nearly 65 years, and highlighted various fields such as Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation art, and video art. The creators of these works were all YNAU's teachers, students, and distinguished alumni. Their works not only showcase Yunnan's unique characteristics and ethnic culture but also embody reflections on contemporary society and artistic innovation. These works reflect the creators' deep love for art and their unique perspective on life. The exhibition will also help further enrich YNAU's history materials and enhance their role in education.
