Contributing to COP15 - the Global Art Competition by Yunnan Arts University Officially Launched

May 22, 2021

The 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will be held in October 2021 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. As the first event of the COP15 promotion month, the "Salon of Biodiversity Digital Artwork" was held on May 21 at 3 pm at Elephament (F5, Plaza 66, Kunming). Four teachers and students from Yunnan Arts University, the undertaker of the salon, presented excellent digital interactive works themed biodiversity to the audience, and expressed that as art practitioners and creators, they should give full play to their professions and take up their proper missions and social responsibilities.

The salon also featured the launch of two biodiversity-themed international art competitions organized by Yunnan Arts University under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the Yunnan Provincial Preparatory Office for COP 15: "Colourful Mutualism" — Global Art and Design Competition Based on COP15, co-organized by Yunnan Arts University, the National Design "Master Award" and China Film Art Direction Academy; and the 2nd "Fantastic Yunnan Exploration Plan" — Chinese Universities Digital Interactive Art Awards, co-organized by Yunnan Arts University and China Film Art Direction Academy.

"Colourful Mutualism" — Global Art and Design Competition Based on COP15, bringing together world-class expert judges, including the Oscar winner, one of the world's top three designers, president of the international authoritative art alliance, professors from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts, one of the world's top three art academies, and Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, one of the top art academies in Italy, as well as first-class painters, designers, experts and scholars in China, calls for art and design works from all over the world.

"Fantastic Yunnan Exploration Plan" — Chinese Universities Digital Interactive Art Awards also brings together authoritative experts of the industry and top resources to call for digital interactive artworks from university teachers and students.

With such strong line-ups, the two competitions hope to collect and exhibit outstanding artworks from various countries and regions around the world. Using art as a "world language" and a common medium, the competitions drive different groups to think about and resonate with each other on the relationship between "culture and ecology", and to jointly portray the beautiful human home featuring "Colourful Mutualism" via art. They hope to make positive contributions to popularizing knowledge about biology, ecology, environment and environmental protection, enhancing the consciousness and participation of the whole society in protecting biodiversity and strengthening the construction of ecological civilization, and arousing the awareness of all people to protect animals and plants and the environment.
