Higher Vocational Education College, established in 2008, now has 20 faculty members, of which 10 are full-time teachers (including 1 professor, 3 associate professor, and 6 lecturers), 4 are administrative staff, 4 are school counselors, and 2 are teaching assistants. There also are 44 external teachers, 12 of which are professors or associate professors. Based on the needs of teaching and major development, the employed external teachers are excellent teachers, actors, dressers, and designers from other colleges, performance organizations, design companies, and relevant enterprises and institutions. The number of students amounted to 1,073 on August 21, 2016.
The college sets three levels for education, including common college education; higher vocational education for students from technical schools, special secondary schools, and vocational high school; and education for upgrading from junior college to university. There are a range of disciplines from music, fine arts, to artistic design. Two undergraduate majors are Music Performance (technology and application) and Visual Communication (technology and application) Design. Two majors of the higher vocational college are Arts Education (vocational education) and Visual Communication (vocational education). Five majors for transferring from junior college to university include Fine Arts, Visual Communication Design, Musicology, Music Performance, and Arts Education.
The college greatly emphasizes the employment rate after graduation. To make sure graduates can find job, an employment guide group was established to help students with their job-hunting. With their efforts so far, the employment rate is rising year by year, reaching 97.63% at present.
The college has taken part in the first Beautiful Sound---New Year’s Choral Concert organized by the Musician’s Society in Yunnan Province, and won the “Spring Bud Golden Prize”(February 2012), as well as the prize for excellent organization of the 9thChinese Golden Bell Award for Music in the vocal auditions in Yunnan.
