The opening ceremony and award ceremony of the 4th "CSCEC Cup" Western "5+2" Biennale Exhibition of Environmental Art Design in 2019 was held at the library of Yunnan Arts University at 10:00 a.m. on November 22, 2019.

Teachers and students from many specialized universities and colleges and enterprises' staff attend the ceremonies. At the opening ceremony, Vice President Chen Jinsong extends welcome and gratitude to all the leaders and experts and congratulates the winners on behalf of the university. Under the background of coexistent ethnic groups and diversified culture in Yunnan, the material platforms for national and social development and people's production and living activities have always been the environment, architecture and human habitation. The concepts and trends have shifted from "green environmental protection" to "rural revitalization" and from "urban development" to "cultural inheritance". Such a change is leading us to launch a new round of revolutions with time significance and value under the banner of "5+2", he said.

Chairman Zhang Yufeng speaks highly of the theme of the Biennale. According to Professor Pan Zhaonan, the success of the Biennale has laid a solid foundation for the next Biennale activities. Secretary General Sun Xiaoyong mentions the words of inheritance, hope and affection in his speech. He encourages the designers at the site to continue to pass on the Chinese culture, boost technological progress and promote the Chinese design to every corner of the world after they become professional designers. Ms. Luo Jingnan said, Red Star Macalline will support the development of Yunnan's arts education for a long time and hopes to further strengthen the cooperation between universities and enterprises. In the future, the company will work with the relevant parties to provide talent resources, conduct design R&D and boost arts development.

After the opening ceremony, the leaders and guests jointly award certificates and trophies to the winners. The candidates to the awards are evaluated in four categories. At last, there are 35 bronze award winners, 18 silver award winners and 4 gold award winners. Jiang Zhuoshan, a student from the Design School of Yunnan Arts University, delivered an acceptance speech on behalf of the award-winning teachers and students and expressed heartfelt thanks to the Organizing Committee of the Biennale.

The next event is the solemn flag handover ceremony. On behalf of the organizer of the Biennale in 2021, Associate Professor He Yu, Deputy Dean of the Arts College of Sichuan University, officially takes over the flag of the "CSCEC Cup" Western "5+2" Biennale Exhibition of Environmental Art Design from Mr. Zhang Yufeng, Chairman of China Construction Urban Planning and Development Co., Ltd. and Professor Wan Fan, Deputy Dean of the Design School of Yunnan Arts University. At the same time, Professor Wan Fan, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, sends his best wishes and presents Sichuan University with the collected materials of this Biennale as a gift.

At 2:00 p.m., the forum for expert keynote speeches and exchanges was held in the lecture hall of the Library of Yunnan Arts University. This forum is presided over by Associate Professor Zou Zhou, Deputy Director of the Environmental Design Department of the Design School of Yunnan Arts University. A total of 7 industry experts are invited to the forum to deliver keynote speeches themed on "Diversity · Mutualism" and they are Dr. Gao Yun and Prof. Adrian Pitts from the University of Huddersfield, Zhao Zhongyu, Chief Architect of China Construction Engineering Design Group Corporation Limited, Sun Xiaoyong, Secretary General of the Culture and Technology Committee of China Building Decoration Association, Associate Professor Zhou Jiongyan, Director of the Environmental Design Department of the Arts College of Sichuan University, Yang Han, Founder and Creative Director of Kunming Nalou Design Studio, and Chen Xin, Director of the Architecture Department of the Design School of Yunnan Arts University.

Associate Professor Chen Xin delivers the opening speech entitled "The Art Story of the Countryside". Taking the B&B reconstruction project in Azheke Village, Yuanyang County as an example, Chen Xin discusses the value and significance of incorporating art into rural construction. He also puts forward that the interpretation of cultural heritage is the key to vitalizing the countryside and revitalizing rural culture.

Prof. Adrian Pitts and Dr. Gao Yun share with us the two keynote speeches themed on "Southwest China Research Alliance for Sustainable and Innovative Rural Development: Review of the Two-Year Work" and "Opportunities for Improving Environmentally Sustainable Design for Residential Houses in Rural Areas of Southwest China".

Mr. Sun Xiaoyong, Secretary General of the Culture and Technology Committee of China Building Decoration Association, makes a speech themed on "Creativity in Design" based on the concept of innovative design. Mr. Zhao Zhongyu, Chief Architect of China Construction Engineering Design Group Corporation Limited, delivers a keynote speech entitled "Urban Renewal and Innovation". Associate Professor Zhou Jiongyan, Director of the Environmental Design Department of the Arts College of Sichuan University, makes a keynote speech on "Thinking and Exploration of Environmental Design Education in the New Era" against the background of the transformation, development, innovation and integration of university education in China. Ms. Yang Han, Founder and Creative Director of Kunming Nalou Design Studio, delivers a keynote speech entitled "Application of Yunnan's Regional and Ethnic Characteristics in Interior Furnishing Art Design" from the perspective of unique vitality and charm of Yunnan's ethnic minority culture.

At the same time, the forum on featured course presentation and exchanges is held at Classroom 103 of the Design School of Yunnan Arts University. This forum is presided over by Li Weibing, Associate Professor and Master Supervisor of the Architecture Department of the Design School of Yunnan Arts University. As a local event in West China, this forum aims to promote the exchanges on teaching and application of environmental art design in the western region, boost reforms on the curriculum system and content of design disciplines in colleges and universities, and further optimize the major set-up and construction in colleges and universities. Associate Professor Wang Juan, Deputy Director of the Department of Architectural Environment Art of Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts, Tan Hui, Associate Professor of the Environmental Design Department of the School of Architecture and Environmental Arts of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Tu Zhaoquan, a teacher from the Environmental Design Department of Academy of Architecture & Arts of Guangxi Arts University, and Luo Ke, a teacher from the Environmental Design Department of the Arts College of Sichuan University, and Wang Rui, a teacher from the Architecture Department of the Design School of Yunnan Arts University are invited to this forum to share the curriculum.
