"Amplitude Der Differenz"| The Phase-2 Itinerant Exhibitions in the German Exhibition Area of the 2nd Sino-German Art Exchange Exhibition are Launched

On July 12, 2019, the Phase-2 Itinerant Exhibitions in the German Exhibition Area of "The 2nd Sino-German Art Exchange Exhibition - Amplitude Der Differenz" were launched in Bamberg, a famous city of Germany. This project was jointly organized by Yunnan Arts University (YNAU) on the Chinese side and six art associations, galleries and institutions on the German side including Bayreuth Art Association, Bamberg Art Association and Schweinfurt Art Association. The president of YNAU Guo Hao, the associate dean of the Fine Arts School of YNAU Cao Yue, the exhibition planner of the Sino-German Art Exchange Exhibition on the Chinese side and associate professor of the Fine Arts School of YNAU Ma Ning, and the teacher of the Fine Arts School of YNAU Zhang Ting were invited by Bayreuth Art Association and the Institute of Art History of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg to participate in the opening ceremony and relevant academic activities.

Six cities in Bavaria State, Germany were involved in the operation of the Itinerant Exhibitions in the German Exhibition Area. The Phase-1 Itinerant Exhibitions were held in City Museum Erlangenand Roth Palace Museum, respectively from May to June 2019. The Phase-2 Itinerant Exhibitions were held in Bamberg Urban Art Gallery (from July 12 to August 9, 2019) and in Schweinfurt Art Gallery (from July 14 to August 9, 2019), respectively. The Institute of Art History of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, the Institute of Art Education, the Institute of Languages and Cultures of the Middle East and East Asia – Sinology and the Confucius Institute at Nuremberg – Erlangen strongly supported the operation of this project.

The first show of the Phase-2 Itinerant Exhibitions opened in Bamberg Urban Art Gallery at 6:00 p.m. on July 12, 2019.

Bamberg is a famous historical city of Germany with profound historic foundations. So the president of YNAU Guo Hao stressed in his speech in the opening ceremony that the long history and ancient architecture that Bamberg boasts are themselves greatly significant cultural contents, which can resonate with more people in a larger area in terms of culture if integrated with the contemporary works of artists in Yunnan of China and of artists in Franken of Germany. He also mentioned that international artistic and cultural exchanges are increasingly important currently, as communication is not only beneficial to organizers and participants of activities, and the understandings of things they have and consensus they reach after communication can be conveyed into the public from such highly specialized academic communication platforms as the Sino-German Art Exchange Exhibition.

As for the significance of international art and culture exchanges, the deputy mayor of Bamberg Dr. Christian Lange also stressed and affirmed that people in the relevant area of Germany responded well of the two sessions of the Exhibition, which has been proved by the participation of six German cities and a lot of German academic institutions in the operation of this project. He hoped that this project could be kept and further developed to build a bridge for art, cultural and academic exchanges between China and Germany.

The exhibition planner in charge of the exhibition period of Bamberg and president of Bamberg Artist Association Schloezer and the exhibition planner on the Chinese side Dr. Ma Ning gave a general introduction to the operation process of this Sino-German Art Exchange Exhibition and its follow-up academic activities. For the opening of the Phase-2 Itinerant Exhibitions, some German artists gave musical performances on the site and a lot of Germans from all walks of life came to visit.

On July 14, 2019, two days after the show launched in Bamberg, the second show of the Phase-2 Itinerant Exhibitions in the German Exhibition Area of the 2nd Sino-German Art Exchange Exhibition was held in Schweinfurt Museum, and it was included in the 10th anniversary celebration ceremony of the museum as an extremely significant academic activity. The local people from different fields attended the opening ceremony and the celebration ceremony.

The opening ceremony was hosted by the chairman of the Schweinfurt Art Association Mr. Ralf Hofmann.

The mayor of Schweinfurt Sebastian Hubertus Remelé mentioned in his speech in the opening ceremony that he had visited China several times and he believed that the Sino-German Art Exchange Exhibition was not only beneficial to the career development of artists in Yunnan and Franken of Germany but could also promote artistic and cultural exchanges between Yunnan and Franken on more different levels. According to him, this kind of artistic and cultural exchange activities could contribute to the mutual understanding of China and Germany.

The president of YNAU Guo Hao made a speech in the opening ceremony of this show, in which he gave a general introduction to the Sino-German Art Exchange Exhibition and relevant academic exchange activities. He expected that the participating artists would benefit from the exchange activities, and hoped that against the backdrop of the great-leap-forward development of the knowledge system and the process of globalization, this kind of artistic and cultural exchanges could contribute to the development of the relationship between China and Germany, the building of a bridge for artistic and cultural exchanges between the two sides and the organization of more Sino-German cultural and artistic activities on different levels through this bridge.
