www.yunnan.cn (By Gao Yimeng) --The 2019 first-class undergraduate design major and first-class curriculum construction seminar will be held at Yunnan Arts University (YAU) on December 27, according to sources from YAU on December 26. Members of the Teaching Guiding Committee for Design Majors of the Ministry of Education and representatives from more than 100 universities will attend the seminar in Kunming, Yunnan.

The seminar was sponsored by the Teaching Guiding Committee for Design Majors of the Ministry of Education and jointly organized by YAU and Yunnan Provincial Teaching Guiding Committee for Design Majors. It aims to speed up the development of first-class undergraduate majors and courses, comprehensively improve the ability and quality of talent cultivation, build a high-level undergraduate teaching system, and bring out the full potential for development of higher education.

The seminar will cover such key issues as the specific requirements and implementation approaches for the development of the first-class undergraduate design majors, and the development of characteristic undergraduate design majors, relevant characteristic courses, as well as teaching materials. At the seminar, the objectives and requirements of the development of first-class undergraduate majors will be interpreted. Meanwhile, the common problems facing universities in developing first-class majors and first-class courses will be discussed and analyzed.

       In the "Double Ten Thousand Plan, which aims to select 10,000 first-class undergraduate majors at national level and 10,000 at provincial level, two majors including product design and environmental design of the College of Design of Yunnan Arts University, one of the organizers of the seminar, have entered the final round of evaluation to be selected as first-class undergraduate majors at national level. The College of Design has been carrying out undergraduate education reform and innovative practice research, and closely linking the education of undergraduate students majoring in design with the integrated development of Yunnan's ethnic culture, tourism and related industries, so that it has tracked out a distinctive path featuring "collaborative innovation in design services" to promote the integrated development of cultural creativity with design services and other related industries, drive the development of cultural industries, enhance cultural influence, develop innovative economy and promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional
